| In addition to providing the best and most popular children's books, all libraries in the system offer programs for children of all ages throughout the year. Programs include story times, puppet shows, crafts, movies, special presenters and lots of fun! The increasingly popular Summer Reading Program aims at keeping youngsters interested in reading when school is not in session. Teachers are welcome to schedule a class visit at the library. In the event teachers are not able to bring their students to the library, children's librarians are available to visit schools, nursery schools, and any other agency that serves children. Call your local library to schedule a program! | |||

| Reference
service is available at all branches of the Mahoning County public library
system. The Information Services Department at Main Library serves as
the resource library for all branches and has the most extensive collection
of non-circulating reference materials in the widest variety of formats
in the library system.
The Information Services Department also provides quick, ready-reference services via the phone (330-744-8636 and press #2 at the phone prompt, for reference), and fax (330-744-3355). Among the materials
our reference departments have to offer (along with some notations as
to availability) are: At Main Library, the Information Services Department is located on the second floor of the building and is comprised of several divisions:the Periodical/Microform Center, the Genealogy Room, the Computer Center and Computer Corridor, the Information Services wing, the Grant Center, the Business/Investment Center, and the Education/Jobs Information Center. If you are searching for information on the Internet, try the Reference or Business Resources links on the Library's home page to find Web sites listed by subject. These partially annotated lists have been compiled by the Information Services Department staff and are updated periodically. You can also use the OPLIN or Online Databases links on the reference page to search the Internet via the Ohio Pubic Library Information Network. Some electronic/online reference sources are proprietary in nature and are not available through remote access from your home. You need to be in a library to use such databases. |
