| CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS “All the World's a Stage” - Join Rich Morgan and Marquee Award nominees for an interactive Reader's Theater performance of “All the World's a Stage” and stories from “Folktales on Stage.” Fun for school-age children. “Bug Fest” - Buggy stories and more fun for children of all ages. “Bug in a Jug!” - Find the hidden bug and get a sticker prize. For children of all ages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. “Calling All Spiderman Fans!” - Correctly answer trivia about our favorite superhero for a chance to win a prize. For children of all ages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. “Come and Join the Fun” - Stories and fun for ages 4-5. Children must be accompanied by an adult at the Aug. 20 and Aug. 27 programs. “Creation Station: Creepy, Crawly Critters” - Make-and-take buggy crafts for children of all ages. “Down, Down, Down With the Sheriff's Dive Team” - Dive in and discover life under water with Commander Bill Hack of the Mahoning County Sheriff's Dive Team. For school-age children. “Family Story Time: Fly Away” - Stories, games and a craft for children of all ages. “Guess ‘N Go – Do You Know?” - Guess the number of items in the jar. Closest guess wins! For grades 6 and younger. “Join Us for Library ‘Ant-ics!'” - Games for children of all ages. Main Library , 3 p.m., Aug. 5 “Litterbug Alert With the Green Team” - Join Peg Flynn and Kim Lewis of the Recycling Division of Mahoning County's Green Team as they read “The Wartville Wizard” by Don Madden and present an interactive skit. Also, receive a coloring book and “litter bugs me” tattoo. For preschool to grade 3. “Name That Bug!” - Identify the bugs on display and “catch” a bug sticker to make a “buggy” bookmark. Bug display will change every Monday. For children of all ages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. “Native American Suitcase With the Mahoning Valley Historical Society” - Join a museum educator from the Mahoning Valley Historical Society for hands-on artifacts about the culture, social structure, life and lore of the Eastern Woodland Indians who occupied the Mahoning Valley several 100 years ago. See stone tools and hunting implements, beaded clothing, jewelry, utensils, food and games. Fun for the whole family! “Pajama Jam: Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite!” - Put on your PJs, bring out the whole family and listen to bedtime stories! “Pioneer Suitcase With the Mahoning Valley Historical Society” - Join a museum educator from the Mahoning Valley Historical Society for hands-on artifacts and stories relating to the Mahoning Valley's early settlers who moved here between 1796 and 1830. See maps, household tools, kitchen “appliances,” lighting equipment and toys. Fun for the whole family! BABY BRILLIANT PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN “Baby Brilliant: Tales for Toddlers” - Stories and fun for early talkers, ages 2-3. BABY BRILLIANT PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS TEENXTREME PROGRAMS “TAB: Teen Advisory Board” - Want to meet new people? Have ideas for future teen events and programs? Need service credits? Like free snacks? Then check us out at the monthly TAB (Teen Advisory Board). We meet the first Wednesday of the month. Newcomers are always welcome! For grades 7-12. “Teen Choice Awards” - Com plete our contest form with your top choices and earn a chance to win a prize. For grades 7-12. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. ADULT PROGRAMS “Business & Investment Center: Tour for Entrepreneurs” - Your Library has had a mission to the business community from its early history. In keeping with that mission, this session shows how the Library can help your business grow. Join a librarian from Main Library's Information Services department to view print and electronic sources useful for business start-up and beyond. Also, tour the Business & Investment Center and start your business research. Registration is required by calling 330-744-8636 and pressing “2” at the prompt. “Grant Center: Finding Foundation Support for Your Education” - This hour-long, hands-on program covers the different sources of educational funding, as well as what students need to know before approaching foundations for financial support. Attendees will learn how to create a personal profile to attract funders, and will get a review of the application process, complete with tips for successful applications. There will also be a demonstration of Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, an online source that provides detailed descriptions of more than 6,000 foundation programs that support individuals seeking educational support in the form of scholarships, fellowships, loans and internships. The source includes information on arts and cultural support and general welfare and special needs, too. Registration is required; call 330-744-8636 and press "2" at the prompt. “Grant Center: Proposal Writing Basics” - Designed for new proposal writers or for those requiring a refresher, this program provides the basics of proposal writing for a nonprofit organization. The session covers the key components, signing and packaging of a proposal, and directs attendees to further resources for proposal writing, including sample proposals. The program also offers suggestions for contacting a funder if a proposal is turned down. Registration is required; call 330-744-8636 and press "2" at the prompt.
