An introduction to searching military records, with the focus being the National Archives website and the library’s subscription databases, particularly Footnote. The format will be a broad overview of various record types and where they can be found, such as draft cards, casualty lists, and regimental histories. Preregistration required. Newspapers are popping up everywhere online. Learn the basics of some major digitization projects for both small town and big city papers, and how to find some interesting genealogical information. Includes both free web and library databases sources such as World Vital Records, Footnote, and Oplin.

World Vital Records was begun by Paul Allen, founder of Ancestry.library, and features access to over 9,000 record collections including passenger lists, yearbooks, newspapers, local histories, vital records, and more.
