Grantseeking Basics With A Special Introduction to the Foundation Center Website - 2008

Learn how the Grant Center's resources can help you become a more effective grantseeker! An introductory session geared to beginners, provides instruction in foundation research and identifying potential funders. Includes a tour of the Grant Center and an introduction to the Foundation Center's website.

Introduction to the Foundation Directory Online - 2008
This hour-long session provides a hands-on introduction to the Foundation Center's web subscription database, The Foundation Directory Online Professional. In this program, you will learn how to create customized searches to develop targeted lists of foundations that will match your organization's funding needs and search grants made by top funders.

Introduction to Fundraising Planning- 2008

Introduction to Fundraising Planning, presented by Jimeka Holloway, Training Coordinator, Foundation Center, Cleveland will show you how to analyze your organization's situation and develop a fundraising plan that will include a variety of revenue sources.

If your organization has never developed a fundraising plan or calendar, this new, hour-long session is for you. It provides an overview of the process of strategically thinking through the components of a fundraising plan. You'll learn how to:

  • Conduct an assets inventory.
  • Develop a case statement.
  • Identify fundraising partners.
  • Prepare a fundraising plan and calendar

Finding Foundation Support for Your Education - 2008
An hour long, hands on class on obtaining financial support for your studies. Discussed will be what you need to know before approaching foundations and the different sources of funding. You will learn how to create a personal profile to attract funders. The application process will be discussed with tips on making your application successful. Also included will be a demonstration on the use of Foundation Grants to Individuals Online. The online source provides detailed descriptions of more than 6,000 foundation programs supporting the needs of individuals looking for educational support in the form of scholarships, fellowships, loans and internships. It also includes information on arts and cultural support and general welfare and special needs.

Proposal Writing Basics - 2008
This program is an introductory overview of the proposal writing process. It will provide the basics of writing a proposal for your nonprofit organization, designed for new proposal writers or for those requiring a refresher. Covered will be the key components of a proposal and signing and packaging the proposal. Suggestions on contacting the funder if turned down are provided. Also included is information on finding more information on proposal writing, including sample proposals.

A discussion of ethical standards that must be applied when finding out information about individuals will also be included.
