| Summer Reading Club Begins June 2; Noted Author/Illustrator Eileen Christelow Appears June 18 and 19 The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County's Summer Reading Program begins June 2. The whole family will enjoy popular author and illustrator Eileen Christelow, who will appear in special programs at four libraries June 18 and 19. Summer Reading is family fun, with programs for all ages, from babies to adults. Participants can read for incentives, attend library programs, see popular performers, and more. The children's Summer Reading Club theme is “Catch the Reading Bug.” Summer Reading's TeenXTreme and adult programs are, “Change Your World: Read.” There's also a Baby Brilliant Summer Reading program focusing on early literacy techniques. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. “Buggy About Crafts” - For children of all ages. “Come and Join the Fun” - Stories and fun for ages 4-5. “Creation Station: Creepy, Crawly Critters” - Make-and-take buggy crafts for children of all ages. “Getting Caught in Charlotte's Web and Other Spidery Tales” - Stories, games and a craft. Terrific fun for children of all ages! “Got Ants in Your Pants?” - Going buggy? Then march on in one by one for stories and a craft. For ages 2-5. Sign up. “Guess 'N' Go – Do You Know?” - Guess the number of items. Closest guess wins a prize! For grades 6 and younger. “Hop in and Help Create With Author and Kids Costume Expert Holly Cleeland” - Give a hand to Holly Cleeland, author of “Go and Glue Costumes for Kids,” as she builds costumes with things from around the house. For grades 4-6. “Welcome, Rainbow Therapy Dogs!” - Have you ever read to a dog? Come meet and read to one of the Rainbow Therapy Dogs. For children of all ages. BABY BRILLIANT PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN “Baby Brilliant: Tales for Toddlers” - Stories and fun for early talkers, ages 2-3. Children must be accompanied by an adult. CSI Y'Town is sponsored by the Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County and is a chapter of the national “Sisters in Crime” organization. He will also share his vision and plans for the park system. “Grant Center: Researching Prospective Individual Donors” - Finding information on prospective individual donors can be more difficult than researching institutional grant-makers, but this program will explain available online sources and how to determine relevant information.
