Brainfuse - Free live, online homework help for students from kindergarten to Adult Learners

Brainfuse logoCertified tutors are available from 3 pm to Midnight to help you with math, science, social studies, writing, Spanish, and English. Spanish-speaking tutors are also available. Any time of day, you can take practice tests, study flashcards, hold a study group online, and create and share movie-like notes and ideas. The Pop-Up Library Comes to You!  

Pop up LibraryPLYMC has introduced a new concept which brings the library to you! A portable library is “popping up” in various places throughout Mahoning County. Watch for our pop-up tent and banners.

Technology PlaygroundTechnology Playground Makes Devices Available

Come in! The water's fine! Dive into our Technology Playground at Main Library and play with technologies, eReaders, tablets, a Mac and more.

If you've been thinking about buying a new device but you're not sure how it works or what model you'd like, you can stop at Main Library and play with the devices we have out.

Here's what you'll find in the Technology Playground at Main Library:
iMac computer, Nook tablet, iPad, Kindle Fire, Google Nexus 7, Microsoft Surface, Google Chromebook.

Streaming Magazines with Zinio
ZinioFull digital copies of favorite magazines are available. PLYMC cardholders can choose from about 140 magazine titles, available online at www.libraryvisit.org. There are no waiting or checkout periods. Multiple viewing platforms include computer, smart phone, tablet. Zinio features interactive elements such as audio and video, and intuitive searching and navigating within each magazine.  Choose from categories like hobbies, crafts, decorating, gardening and more. Hoopla Streaming Movies, TV Shows, Music, Audiobooks

what's all the hooplaPLYMC cardholders can download, through their app store, the free hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or Apple IOS device or go to the Library’s website on their computer to begin enjoying thousands of titles – from major Hollywood studios, record companies and publishers – available to borrow for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smart phones, tablets and computers. Cardholders may download six (6) items per month. This will be available 24/7 through the Library’s website: http://www.libraryvisit.org/hoopla.

“We are excited to be working with hoopla digital,” notes Ms. Daniel. “You must have a library card to access this content on the hoopla app or web site. Our customers can borrow this content free of charge. It’s digital so there is no waiting period for popular titles and hoopla’s automatic return means no late fees.”

Mobile Printing is Here
mobile printingNeed a printer? From home, on the run or inside the library? With PLYMC’s newest service, you can print to the Library’s printers from your home or from inside the library on your own computer or from one of the Library’s computers.

Patrons will need a valid Library Card from the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) to use this service. Library cards can be acquired at any library location.

It’s as easy as visiting http://print.libraryvisit.org  and logging on with your Library Card’s barcode and the PIN you have chosen to use your Library online account in order to submit and manage print jobs. (If you don’t have an online account, sign up on the Library’s website at: https://catalog.libraryvisit.org/patroninfo).

Submitted print jobs will be available to print at any of the PLYMC libraries in Mahoning County for a 24-hour period from submission.

Hot PicksHot Picks Express Puts Best Sellers in Your Hands Sooner – Available Now

Hot Picks have a limited 7-day checkout, instead of the usual 21, so that more readers can enjoy these best sellers sooner.

Library patrons are encouraged to read and return their Hot Picks selections promptly, as other readers are waiting.


Gale Courses
Gale courses iconPLYMC cardholders now have access to free instructor-led online courses at www.libraryvisit.org/galecourses. Learn from the comfort of your home. Classes run for six weeks and new classes begin every month. Participants with a passing score are issued an Award of Completion at the end of each class. Some classes qualify for Continuing Education Certificates.

Library cardholders may take up to five (5) classes per year at no cost, choosing from the many types of classes, such as: accounting and finance, business, college readiness, computer applications, design and composition, health care and medical, language and arts, legal, personal development, teaching and education, technology, writing and publishing.


PLYMC Mobile 
mobile-iconDon't forget established services, like the PLYMC mobile app that brings the library to your mobile device. The Library is as close as your smart phone or tablet. The app is powered by Boopsie and is fully functional. You can search the catalog, locate a book you're looking for and have it sent to the library of your choice to pick up. You can view library locations and hours, find library programs for all ages, see new and recommended materials, check your library account, and more. You can even use the PLYMC mobile app's Booklook feature when you're in a store to scan a book's barcode and determine if the library offers that book.

ebooksOverdrive eBooks and Audiobooks

Overdrive provides you with eBooks and audiobooks that you can check out and download to your mobile device, computer or Overdrive mobile app. Borrowing and reading titles is easy; it takes only a few seconds to find a title and start reading.

Faxing ServicesFaxing and Scanning Available

At Austintown, Boardman, Tri-Lakes and Main libraries at a nominal cost. At Austintown, Boardman and Tri-Lakes libraries, you can FAX and pay with a credit/debit card. The cost is $1.75 for the first page and $1 for each additional page.

 At Main Library, you can FAX and pay with cash. The cost is $1 per page.

At Main and Boardman libraries, you can SCAN a document to print, file, or email at NO CHARGE.

Are you an avid reader? Do you read so many books that you can't remember what you've read? Would you like to take a stroll down memory lane and review the books you've checked out at the Library? A new feature of the Library's Catalog lets you do just that! "My Reading History" can be activated in your patron account on the Library's catalog page. It's as simple as going to LibraryVisit.org: select "Library Catalog" from the menu on the left side of the page, then select "My Account" on the Catalog page, log into your account, and select "My Reading History" and click on "Start Saving History."  View this PDF for more...
