SEBRING (July 25, 2007) Sebring Library, 195 W. Ohio Ave. , will be closed \ August 3-26 while improvements are made to the library's interior. The Sebring branch of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County will close at the end of business, 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 2, and is expected to reopen at 9 a.m. on Monday, August 27. “The purpose of the project is to update the look and feel of the branch and make it more warm and inviting for the Sebring community,” said Mary Pullin, Library Assistant Director. Improvements include: new carpeting, floor tile and paint; energy-efficient windows and draperies; new glass doors at the front entrance and foyer; custom furniture, including comfort chairs, plus study tables and chairs; relocation of the children's picture books from a bookcase to bins that are easily reachable by children; an “early literacy wall” with interactive features to support pre-literacy skills; a new area for teen collections, which includes seating; new central information desk for the librarian; and much more. Cost of the project is about $70,000. “The Sebring community can also look forward to increased library parking, including an attractive green space directly behind the library,” Pullin said, noting an open house will be held for the community once the project is complete. Loan periods will be extended for library materials checked out at Sebring and due during the time the library is closed. |
