December Programs at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County 

Please check this schedule regarding programs at the Poland Library, as there are changes from prior listings. The Library will cancel or move programs scheduled while the Poland Library is closed. Should the library reopen, some of the programs labelled, "tentatively cancelled," may again be scheduled, so check back here for updates.

Holiday Book Sale – The Friends of PLYMC Library Book Store is reopening on Monday, December 10, and will featuer a 1/2 Price Book Sale at the store, located in the lower level of the Poland Library. The sale will run until the end of the month, so come on it and do your holiday shopping and save money!

Lighting of the Village @ the Library!-Celebrate with us at the Library during the Poland Lighting of the Village event! Fun for the entire family.  This event has been moved to Wittenauer’s across from the Poland Library. Also, the Friends of the Library Bookstore is closed and the holiday book sale has been cancelled.

Holiday Pajama Jam: Sleepy-Time Fun for the Family - Put on your PJs, bring out the whole family and come for stories and more fun.

Holiday Puppet Show - A holiday puppet show for the entire family. Program will last one hour and the story Santa will return the family stocking with a "surprise." Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Stop at the Boardman Library and pick up a stocking to decorate.

Holiday: Stockings from the Story Santa - Help decorate our library mantle with a family stocking created by you! Stockings will be on display from Dec. 3-15. The story Santa will add a "surprise" and return your stocking at the puppet show on either Dec. 11 at 7 p.m., or Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.

iPad Play - Hey, kids! Want to use an iPad? Hey, adults! Want to motivate your child to learn? Call 330.744.8636 and ask for a librarian at the location you would like to visit. Tales to Tails - Sign up to read to a registered therapy dog, which helps develop reading skills, promotes confidence, and encourages a love of reading. Easter Seals Private Duty is offering this service thanks to a grant to provide assessments to seniors in Mahoning County aged 60 plus, but participation will not be limited to seniors at the library.

Friends of the Austintown Library Meeting - Happy Holidays with the YSU Dana Vocal Society. The December meeting will be the Austintown Friend’s Annual Christmas luncheon and invitation for new members.  Reservations are required and will be taken by the officers.  A wonderful Christmas program will be presented to get the Friends and guest into the Holiday Spirit.  YSU’s Dana Vocal Society will present “Songs of the Season.”  The Dana Vocal Society is comprised of YSU students who are music majors and those who are not music majors, with a goal of gathering students who love to sing and giving them opportunities to perform.  DVS supports the arts in the area and also the YSU Opera Program.

Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser - Join the Springfield Library Fundraising Committee for Breakfast with Santa at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Proceeds benefit the Springfield Branch Capital Campaign. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children under the age of 5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The East Friends of the Library will wrap from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the TeenXTreme Teen Advisory Board will gift wrap from 5 to 9 p.m. Pick up a voucher at any public library in Mahoning County to use when you purchase books at Barnes & Noble; the Library will receive a percentage of the net sale when vouchers are presented on Dec. 7.
