HOW
TO PLACE A RESERVE FROM ANY OF THE LIBRARY'S 16 LOCATIONS and THE WEB
Follow these simple steps to reserve items when you are in the library or at
home:
TO RESERVE A SINGLE
TITLE:
1. Search the Library Catalog for the title you wish to reserve.
2. Many titles come
in different formats, identified by the word or picture to the right of the
title. Choose the correct format by clicking with the mouse on your selection.
3. Click on the "Reserve Title" button.

4. Fill out the
request form by entering your Barcode (you must have a valid Library card),
PIN (Personal Identification Number) and the location where you would like to
pick up your reserved item. If you haven't already chosen a PIN, you will be
given the opportunity to create one. If the item is needed before a specific
date, enter the date in the space provided.
5. Click on " Submit."
TO RESERVE MULTIPLE
TITLES:
The "Add to Cart" feature allows you to reserve multiple titles while
entering your personal information one time at the end of your search.
1. Search the Catalog and choose the correct format of the title you
wish to reserve. Click on the "Add to Cart" button.
2. To make additional
selections, choose "Another Search" or "Start Over", continuing
to "Add to Cart" until all selections have been made.
3. Choose "View
Cart" from the top or bottom of the screen, which prompts you to "Export
Your List" or "Reserve Your Items". ("Export Your List"
allows you to send this list of items to an e-mail address). Choose "Reserve
Your Items".
4. Fill out the
request form by entering your Barcode, PIN (Personal Identification Number)
and the location where you would like to pick up your reserved items. If you
haven't already chosen a PIN, you will be given the opportunity to create one.
If the items are needed before a specific date, enter the date in the space
provided.
5. Scroll down the page to view your list of selected titles. You may reserve all titles on your list or select specific titles by clicking on the box to the left.
6. The Request box will indicate that your requests were successfully submitted. Choose "Empty Cart" to remove your list of saved records from the screen.

7. Remember to "View Your Account" to make sure we have your current e-mail address, telephone number, and home address so that we can properly notify you when your reserved item is available for pick-up.
QUESTIONS ABOUT PLACING YOUR OWN RESERVES
1.What can I reserve?
Any circulating item found in the library's catalog may be reserved.
2.How many items can
I reserve?
A total of 25 items may be on reserve.
3.How will the library
notify me that my reserve is ready to be picked up?
The fastest way to be notified is by e-mail. Otherwise you will be contacted
by phone, or a notice will be mailed to your address.
5. What if the status
of an item is "CHECK SHELF" and I need it right away?
Call the library where the item is shown to be on the shelf and ask library staff
to locate the item and set it aside for you. The item will be held until the
end of the next business day. Otherwise, it may take several days for the item
to reach your local library.
7. What if I change
my mind?
You have the option to cancel your reserve when you view your account.
Things to remember when placing your own reserves:
Reserves are filled in the order in which they are placed as copies are returned and become available.
Library materials come in different formats. It's important choose the right one when reserving a title.
There are loan limitations
on high-demand materials, so it's important to limit your reserves to the amount
of items you will be able to check out.
Loan limits are:
10 Videos, 50
Books-on-Cassette, 5 DVDs, 10 Music CDs, 10 Books-on-CD.
Loan periods vary according to type of material and some items are not renewable.
E-mail is the fastest
way for us to let you know your reserve is ready to be picked up. If you do
not check your e-mail regularly, make sure the address and telephone number
shown in your account are current so we can contact you.
If you have questions
or need assistance, library staff is always available to help!
