Whether in our business lives or in our personal lives, occasionally a letter of complaint must be written. Janet Rubel, Attorney at Law, has written a book comprised of such letters. Not only does the author provide a road map for writing this type of letter, but she also provides sample letters in eight category types. In addition Ms Rubel includes information on next steps, when letters of complaint do not bring results. Circulating copies of this book are available at Austintown, Boardman, and Main libraries.

The resource section provides contact information for thousands of resources including associations, government agencies, consultants, trade shows, publications, and more. The second section provides statistics and rankings on important environmental issues. Included are three index accesses to this 800-page source, as well as a glossary of environmental terms.

Making informed decisions about our personal finances requires time, effort, and assistance from authoritative sources. BIC's LACE Quarterly Financial Institution Ratings is a source that provides financial ratings on “commercial banks(8,000), savings banks(500), savings and loans that are federally insured (1,200), bank holding companies (100 largest), and credit unions (1,100 for March and September periods and 12,000 for June and December periods).”

LACE Financial Corporation's name is derived “from the four major determinants of financial soundness: Liquidity, Asset Quality, Capital and Earnings.” The ratings for the institutions are assigned by comparing “key financial ratios to peer benchmarks established during ‘normal' periods.” Each quarterly issue of the source not only provides the current rating, but ratings from six prior quarters.

Exporter's Encyclopaedia from Dun & Bradstreet is a source for those whose business involves international markets and for those who are considering such expansion. It is an annual publication devoted to world marketing that is updated with twice-monthly supplements.

Introductory pages provide information concerning the decision to consider world markets and include an outline of the process involved. Sample documentation and a glossary of import/export terms assist in the understanding of targeting these new markets.

The majority of Exporter's Encyclopaedia is comprised of export market data. For each country included in the Export Markets section information on the following is provided:

•  Country profile – brief overview of the country.
•  Communications –postal regulations, telephone, and internet services.
•  Key contacts – contacts that assist trade and are located in both the United States and in the country of interest.
•  Trade regulations – exchange regulations,taxation,import licensing,credit and payment conditions,and customs tariff and authority.
•  Documentation – documentation, licensure, insurance, and invoice data.

Indexing by product name and company name add to the flexibility of using the directory.
