Human Resource Generalist

The Library is accepting applications for a full-time Human Resource Generalist. Working under the direction of the Human Resource Director, The HR Generalist aids with administration of the day-to-day operations of the HR Department functions and duties. The Human Resource Generalist carries out responsibilities in all areas of human resources, including but not limited to: employee relations, recruiting, orientation, benefit administration, and compensation.

Responsibilities: (1) Carries out full recruitment cycle, from posting the position to extending formal offers of employment. This includes contacting recruitment sources and schools, screening resumes, coordinating assessments, conducting initial interviews, recommending candidates to HR Director, and serving as the primary contact to all applicants. (2) Participates in employee relations by acting as a liaison between staff and management for a variety of HR related matters. (3) Administers employee health insurance plans and other benefits. (4) Monitors all employee accident reports, OSHA recordkeeping, and Workers’ Compensation claims. Attends BWC hearings, as needed. (5) Assists in keeping the HR Department in legal compliance, which includes attending seminars, checking government websites and keeping up-to-date with knowledge of various laws and regulations. (6) Provides support to HR Director, which includes assistance in gathering payroll information, completing various surveys, tracking LOAs and FMLA eligibility, participating in Library committees, etc. Maintains an active presence throughout the Library system.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field. At least one year of experience in human resources. Generalist knowledge of the HR field. Including, but not limited to, recruiting, benefits administration, employment laws, employee relations, OSHA, Workers’ Compensation, and FMLA. Recent experience working in an HRIS system. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group at all levels of the organization. Good problem-solving and organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail, while managing multiple projects. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Starting wage is $32,100 per year with an excellent fringe benefit package which includes a pension plan with the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
