First Chapters: Ivy + Bean

First Chapters is designed for beginning chapter book readers.  Call 330-259-3394 to listen to one of our librarians read the beginning of a chapter book.  You can then borrow the book from Hoopla or Curbside Pickup to finish reading it.  There will be a new book every Monday throughout Summer Discovery. 

The First Chapters book for the week of June 15-21 is Ivy + Bean Doomed to Dance by Annie Barrows. This is book number 6 in the series. The first chapter of the book is called Ballet or BustBest friends Ivy and Bean are inspired to take ballet lessons after looking through a ballet book that Ivy’s grandma sent her. Of course, ballet is not what the best friends expected and they scheme to find a way to quit.

The Take and Make craft for this week is a crab.  Please call the library at 330-2593399 to request Ivy + Bean books and craft materials from curbside service.

Take and Make Craft: Crab

Call 330-259-3399 to request a Take and Make craft through curbside pickup.

Supplies in Take and Make kit: a blue piece of construction paper, 1 big orange circle, 4 small orange circles, and sticker eyes.

Supplies you need from home: glue stick or glue bottle and a black crayon or marker.

Step 1: Fold the 5 orange circles in half.

Step 2: Glue the folded 5 orange circles to the blue sheet of construction paper. 

Step 3: Draw a set of legs.  Draw a line using the black crayon or marker from the body to the claws.  Attach the sticker eyes and draw a line from the body to the eyes.
