American Sign Language (ASL) is NOT used worldwide…..

There is the common misconception that American Sign Language (ASL) is used throughout the world. This is completely false. There are over 70 million Deaf or Hard-of-hearing individuals around the world that use some type of signed language, which is estimated to be about 200 different sign languages throughout the world. There are some signs that may be similar, but each sign language is unique and beautiful.
