5 years after premiering on the big stage, the award-winning musical Hamilton is still a favorite with fans of all ages. Inspired by Historian Ron Chernow’s 2004 book, Alexander Hamilton, author and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda has created a musical masterpiece unlike any other. Featuring modern beats that combine hip-hop, traditional show tunes, upbeat catchy lyrics and a wide range of voices, this musical has ignited the desire for both the young and old to read, listen, watch and learn more about this historical figure.
Still managing to sell out to crowds across the country in early 2020, Hamilton does not show any signs of slowing down. In fact, getting the chance to see the musical on stage has been hard for many people. Fans have been anxiously waiting for years of the news that the musical will be released to DVD or to the small screen. This will give those who have missed out on tickets, and those who just cannot get enough, a chance to enjoy the magical work of art.
Luckily for fans, that time has finally arrived! In mid-May it was announced that Hamilton will be available on the streaming platform, Disney+. For those who do not have access (this author included), it provides hope that down the road the musical should be available on DVD, which fortunately means that our very own library will likely provide many copies for checkout! Hooray!
