YOUNGSTOWN – The Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) donated $50,000 to the Main Library’s Teen Room.  On Wednesday, October 20, Eric Grischow, Friends of the PLYMC Board Treasurer and Natalie Lariccia, Friends of the PLYMC Board Member, presented the check to Aimee Fifarek, PLYMC Executive Director and CEO. The Friends raised the money through sales from the Friends of the PLYMC Bookstore located in the Poland Library, book sales, and events like the Car Show and Brew Ha Ha.

“The Friends of the Library is proud to announce this donation for the Main Library’s Teen Room,” said Deborah Liptak, PLYMC Development Director. “The Friends of the Library are committed to partnering with the Library to provide a safe and fun place for teens across the Valley to enjoy.”

The teen space, located on the Main Library’s first floor as part of the recently opened Family Engagement Center, features furniture that is easy to move around, white boards to collaborate ideas, and plenty of places for teens to plug in and charge their devices. The YA collection is housed in this space, with hundreds of titles.

“The Friends of the Library are strong partners and supporters of PLYMC and our mission,” said Aimee Fifarek, PLYMC Executive Director and CEO. “We are extremely grateful for their generosity and their commitment to making a difference for our Library and our communities.”
