Library’s Family Engagement Area Grand Opening Event Set

YOUNGSTOWN (August 11, 2021/For Immediate Release) – The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is proud to announce the opening of its Family Engagement Area on Monday, August 16 with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Main Library, 305 Wick Avenue, Youngstown.

 

Community members are invited to stop by between 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. to see the new, dedicated space and talk with library staff members and see what Family Engagement Area has to offer!

 

Library staff will lead tours of the family engagement area and discuss services available. Aimee Fifarek, Chief Executive Officer and Director and other library staff will be on hand to answer questions.  The event is open to the public.

 

“Family engagement is a shared responsibility among families, educators, and communities to support children’s learning and development” says Pam Brockway, Library Family Engagement Manager. “Family engagement begins at birth and continues through young adulthood. It happens everywhere children learn—especially at the library.”

  • Story Time area
  • Hands on STEAM Learning area
  • Teen Room
  • DIY Space

Booker Bear will be available for pictures and there will be activities in the space throughout the day. All opening day visitors can enter their names for a raffle drawing.
