Main Library Prepares to Enter the Next Phase of Its Renovation Project

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC)’s Main Library is preparing to enter the next phase of its renovation project. To accommodate the work necessary to move the project from Phase 2 to Phase 3, Main Library will temporarily close to the public from November 22, 2021, through the end of the year to prepare the 2nd floor for public service. During this temporary closure, curbside drop-off at Main Library will not be available. Patrons can return materials at any open Library branch and use our online services 24/7 on our website:

On January 3, 2022, the 2nd phase of the construction project at Main Library will open to the public, including the new computer lab, study rooms, meeting rooms, and Genealogy and Local History. Renovations at Main Library began in August of 2020 and are expected to be completed in early 2022.
