PLYMC Celebrates Giving Tuesday

YOUNGSTOWN – The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) is celebrating Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, November 30. The Library depends on our generous supporters whose financial gifts help us innovate and adapt our services, grow our collections, and renovate Library spaces. That’s why, as part of the worldwide #GivingTuesday movement, we’re asking our supporters to donate to the Library.

This year, supporters can choose from a variety of Library services to direct their gift:

·         The Main Library Capital Campaign.

·         Summer Discovery.

·         Commercial-grade appliances and tools for the new Culinary Literacy Center at Main Library.

·         3-D printer supplies for the Makerspace at Michael Kusalaba.

·         Programmable robots for children’s STEM programs.

·         Online subscriptions for Library patrons like LinkedIn Learning and Ancestry.com.

·         Purchasing books and media for our collections.

Gifts such as this bring tangible changes at the Library that everyone in the community can enjoy. In 2022, we’re making some big updates that are possible, in part, thanks to donations from Library users, including the grand reopening of our Main Library.

Not familiar with Giving Tuesday? This global day of giving takes place each year on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.  It’s meant to follow Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday as a time to donate to non-profits in the midst of holiday shopping.

With 15 branches across Mahoning County, including our Main Library in downtown Youngstown, the PLYMC is well known for signature services and programs like Summer Discovery and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. The mission and values of PLYMC to “connect, inspire, and enrich” position the Library to serve our communities by preparing children for kindergarten, promoting early literacy, assisting job seekers, connecting Valley residents to technology, and providing resources for small businesses.
