Step 1: Gather the Materials

In order to make a Christmas tree keychain you will need the following items:

  • 1 yard of craft lace
  • 1 keyring
  • 30 green pony beads
  • 6 red pony beads
  • 6 brown pony beads

Keychain materials

Step 2: Add a Keyring

Add a keyring to the center of your craft lace. Make sure that the craft lace is equal in length on both sides.

Step 3: Stringing Beads

To begin making your Christmas tree you need to string one green bead to the center of your craft lace (underneath the keyring). To string the beads, put both ends of the craft lace through the bead and pull! Keep stringing the beads in the following pattern:

  • 2 Green
  • 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 Green (3 beads in all)
  • 4 Green
  • 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 Green (5 beads in all)
  • 6 Green
  • 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 Green (7 beads in all)
  • 8 Green
  • 3 Brown
  • 3 Brown

NOTE: As you string the beads, you may have to move them around to get them to lay correctly. If you cannot get them to lay completely flat, that’s okay!

Step 4: Secure the Beads

After stringing all of the beads, you will need to center the brown beads and secure them by tying 2-3 knots.

Step 5: Display Your Creation

Clip your Christmas tree keychain to your keys and/or your backpack! 😊
