One Step at a Time Campaign

The Library Foundation of The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) announced its “One Step at a Time” campaign to recreate the Library’s original historic front steps on Wick Avenue during its current renovation project.

Since the PLYMC, an Andrew Carnegie library, opened in 1910, the building has undergone two major renovations: A renovation in 1954 removed the front stairs and period lampposts from the face of the building on Wick Avenue. The second renovation, dedicated in 1996, included a large addition to the building and relocated the entrance to the side of the original structure. During the current renovation of the Main Library, and through this campaign, the historic steps will be recreated with solid granite and limestone to become a functional entrance again.
