The Library Is Still Working for You!

Join Us for Virtual Programming on the Library’s Social Media

We want you to know that the Library is still here for you! Our libraries are closed to support flattening the curve of the COVID-19 spread. And our in-library programming has been cancelled during this period. But we are still working to provide you with programs of interest on our virtual platforms (see links below).

We are planning the following activities on Facebook (LibraryMahoningCounty) and other social media platforms (click on links to social media below).

As we continue to plan and schedule, please check back for periodic updates.

Weekly Programs

Weekly programs will be in the mix. Some are still being planned.

Monday Mashup – This weekly Facebook chat on Mondays at 4:00 PM is your chance to geek out and defend your favorite fandoms. Each week, we’ll share a question about a fandom and ask you to defend your position.

Monday Bilingual Storytime Live! – Join some of your librarians on Facebook every Monday at 7:00 PM as they share songs, stories, crafts and more each week.  Stories will be shared in English and Spanish.

Thursday Storytime and ASL Live! – Join some of your librarians on Facebook every Thursday at 11:00 AM as they share songs, stories, crafts and more each week.  Stories will be shared in English and American Sign Language each week.

Teen Reads Live Video – Tuesdays and Saturday at 3:00 PM, tune into Facebook to see teens from Project Lit Youngstown and the Teen Advisory Board read chapters from a Young Adult book.

Fiber Arts Live! – Join our crafty librarians Wednesdays at 11:00 AM on Facebook as they chat about everything related to Fiber Arts crafts.

Instagram Weekly Photo Challenge – Share your Shelfie on Instagram, a photo of you with your book shelf,  and use the hashtags #PLYMCweekly and #PLYMCanywhere to join the community challenge. Posted every Sunday on Instagram.

Book Banter Chat -Every Wednesday at 4:00 PM on Facebook, two librarians will discuss and deconstruct a work of Young Adult fiction, digging into character development, plot points, point of view etc., and give you a thumbs up or down.

Tech Time Live Chat – Join us every Friday on Facebook at 4:00 PM for Tech Time Live Chat. Ms. Carla from PLYMC will offer tech tips and helpful resources for your gadgets and devices.


TAB meetingsTAB Virtual Meetings

The Library is closed, but you can still join our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) and come to a virtual meeting!  Help plan and support teen activities at the library. Volunteer your time, meet new people and have fun. To attend a virtual meeting, email our TAB coordinator, Amy at aburkard@libraryvisit.org for information on how to join the fun.  For teens in grades 7-12.

Virtual TAB meetings are on Facebook on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM



StorylineStoryline

Hear a Story at 330-259-3393. Call and listen to one of our librarians read your children a story each week.

The story changes every Friday at noon., so feel free to email programmingdepartment@libraryvisit.org if you have reading suggestions.

Join the new virtual book club with partners YSU Alumni and Friends, YSU’s Maag Library and PLYMC.

The book “Educated”  by Tara Westover was chosen as the first selection.
