February has arrived, the month with Valentine’s Day, which brings to mind the phrase “The Language of Love.” Do you have a favorite romantic language? Language Learning Resources from the Library
The library provides access to two resources with full language courses, which can be found on our Language Resources page., opens a new window
- Mango Languages, opens a new window offers courses in more than 70 languages, including English courses taught for in 21 different native languages. Plus, there are fun options like Pirate and English (Shakespearean), along with specialty lessons, such as Romance languages for French, Italian, and Spanish (Latin American).
- Little PIM (Mango), opens a new window introduces language learning for children ages 0-6. The platform currently has 12 languages available, including, such as Spanish (Latin American), Japanese, Russian and Korean.
Spanish and French Resources from the Ohio Web Library
The state of Ohio provides free access for all Ohio residents at the Ohio Web Library, opens a new window for those fluent in Spanish or French, including:
- World Book Banco de Contenidos aulaPlaneta - An upper-level Spanish language database, intended for high school students through adult learners, with articles, images and videos.
- World Book Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos, opens a new window - A Spanish-language encyclopedia for elementary and middle school students, designed to build language and research skills.
- World Book L’Encyclopedie Decouverte, opens a new window - A French-language encyclopedia for elementary and middle school students.
Free Online Language Tools
- ESLgold: English Study and Learning Materials, opens a new window – Aimed at helping speakers of English as a second language, it includes exercises in grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and pronunciation.
- Google Translate, opens a new window - A free tool for translating text, websites or documents with audio pronunciation for many words and phrases.
