The IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is offering free basic tax return preparation for qualifying individuals. All VITA volunteers have been trained and certified by the IRS. Services are available at PLYMC's Tri-Lakes location in addition to other sites in Mahoning County.

What to Bring to Your Appointment
- Valid driver’s license or proof of identification
- Social Security cards and birth dates for you, spouse and/or dependents
- A copy of last year’s 2024 tax return IRS-ITIN (issued by IRS)
- Wage and earning statements (W2's/1099)
- Interest and dividend statements
- Total amount you paid for day care and the day care provider’s tax ID number
- Marketplace Health Insurance Form 1095-A and/or Employer Health Insurance form 1095-C if applicable
- Your, spouse, if married and filing jointly, to sign the required forms
- Bank routing/account numbers for direct deposit
All taxes completed by the VITA program must be direct deposit.

About VITA
The IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals.
The VITA program has operated for over 50 years. VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:
- People who generally make $69,000 or less
- Persons with disabilities; and
- Limited English-speaking taxpayers
In addition to VITA, the TCE program offers free tax help, particularly for those who are 60 years of age and older, specializing in questions about pensions and retirement-related issues unique to seniors.
