The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County is beginning the community feedback portion next week for its 2027-2031 Strategic Planning process in order to dig deep into what makes the PLYMC important to the Valley. Library trustees and leadership will be assessing where improvements can be made on our programs and services, how to better meet the needs of our patrons, and most importantly, how the PLYMC can continue to be a vital part of the Mahoning County public service infrastructure over the next five years.
"We are undertaking this process because the PLYMC’s future should not be left to chance,” said PLYMC Board of Trustees Vice President Mariel Sallee. “Bringing together community insight, professional expertise, and measurable goals, this project gives the library the tools to anticipate change and serve with intention. I'm looking forward to hearing what folks have to say," continued Sallee.
"Taking the time to listen to our community is an essential part of this process and one I am very much looking forward to,” said PLYMC Board Secretary Denise Glinatsis Bayer. “Hearing thoughts and concerns from our partners, our patrons, and our leaders will be crucial to not only this strategic planning process, but also to our next five years," added Bayer.

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) has served the Mahoning Valley since 1880 when the Youngstown Library Association was officially created. With 14 branches across Mahoning County, including Main Library in downtown Youngstown, PLYMC is well known for its signature services and programs like Summer Discovery and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. PLYMC serves our communities by preparing children for kindergarten, promoting early literacy, assisting job seekers, connecting Valley residents to technology, and providing resources for small businesses.
