The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) announces adjusted hours of operation for Summer 2026, to begin on May 26 and continue until September 7.
According to Erin Phemester, PLYMC Chief Experience Officer, “During the summer months, the library will adjust its operating hours to better meet the needs of the community. While in‑building hours are slightly reduced, this shift allows library staff greater flexibility to bring services beyond our walls—supporting community festivals, pop‑up programs, reading initiatives, outreach to families and seniors, and other events happening all summer long. By reallocating staff time, we’re able to meet patrons where they are while continuing to provide high‑quality library services in new and creative ways.”

The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) has served the Mahoning Valley since 1880 when the Youngstown Library Association was officially created. With 14 branches across Mahoning County, including Main Library in downtown Youngstown, PLYMC is well known for its signature services and programs like Summer Discovery and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.
