Important Update: Austintown Branch After School Program Attendance Policy

Important Update: Austintown Branch After School Program Attendance Policy

Dear Parents, School Officials, and Community Members,

We are grateful for the continued support and enthusiasm for the After School program at our Austintown branch. Last year, we saw a remarkable increase in student participation, which reaffirmed the importance of this program in our community. However, to ensure a safe, welcoming, and productive environment for all students, staff, and general library users, we are implementing some necessary changes for the upcoming school year.

Effective August 27, the After School program will be open to students in grades 6-12 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday on school days only. To maintain a safe and comfortable space, daily attendance will be limited to 75 students. Once we reach this capacity, no additional students will be permitted to enter the library during after school hours. Exceptions will be made for minors accompanied by an adult chaperone.

We kindly remind parents and caregivers that the library is a public space. Students who cannot leave independently in the event of the program reaching capacity or an emergency closure should not be at the library without a responsible party.

We remain committed to providing a positive and enriching experience for our youth and the broader community. These changes are designed to protect the safety and well-being of everyone who uses our library.

Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership.

Warm regards,

Aimee Fifarek
