  • Library of Things

    Borrowing items from the Library of Things, opens a new window is free. However, kits returned with dirty items or items not put back in their carrying case correctly will result in a $10 cleaning fee.

    If a major piece is missing or damaged (i.e., ball from a bocce set, pump for exercise ball, etc.), the patron will be charged $15 for each major piece. If a kit is returned in bad condition or with multiple broken or missing pieces then the patron will be charged the full replacement cost of the item.

    The loan period for items from the Library of Things, opens a new window varies. Items can be checked out for 7 or 21 days. Items cannot be renewed.

    Library of Things is a collection of unique items that furthers the Library's mission to connect people and communities to reliable resources that inspire learning and foster enrichment. The collection allows patrons to try something new without buying it first and to save money and storage space for items that may not be used often.

  • Notifications

    Yes! PLYMC offers text message services through Shoutbomb. Patrons can receive text messages about their holds, nearly due items and overdue items.

    Text messages are sent from 844.202.2649. Standard text rates may apply.

    To sign up for Shoutbomb:

    • Visit a PLYMC location
    • Call us at 330.744.8636
    • Email your library card number and phone number to ask@libraryvisit.org

    Please note that you will continue to receive notices as you did before too. These include print and email notices.

    MyBooks – Status of all your library item
    HL – List of hold items available for pick up
    RL – List of items eligible for renewal. Text line # renew.
    RI – List of items not eligible for renewal
    RA – Renew all items
    OL – List of overdue items
    OI – List overdue items that can’t be renewed
    OA – Renew all eligible overdue items
    Holds – Hold notices Opt In/Out
    Renew – Renew notices Opt In/Out
    Overdue – Overdue notices Opt In/Out
    MyCards – Display all library cards linked to text phone number

    By default, you will receive these notices: HOLDS, OVERDUE and RENEW. No further action is required. You can also sign up for these notices: FEES, ANNOUNCEMENTS and CLOSURE.

    Each message type can be turned on or off any time after sign up. To toggle each on or off, text the keyword to 844.202.2649.

    For example, text RENEW to 844.202.2649 to turn off renewal notices. Send the same keyword to turn the notices back on.
