Summer Discovery is an annual program, opens a new window sponsored by PLYMC to encourage reading and literacy. The program runs from May 27th through July 31st. As a literacy leader in Mahoning County, we recognize the importance of literacy and reading for children and adults. It is a free program for everyone regardless of age. Participants track the number of days they read with the goal of establishing a daily reading habit.
“Summer literacy programs at the library are for everyone from toddlers discovering their first stories to seniors exploring a lifetime of learning,” said Erin Phemester, PLYMC Chief Experience Officer. “Last year thousands of children and adults participated in Summer Discovery which shows that interest in reading is alive and well across our community.”
PLYMC will kick off the event on Saturday, May 31st at Boardman Park, opens a new window at the Hofmaster Pavilion. Anyone can come, sign up for the Summer Discovery Program, check out the Pop-Up Library and enjoy games, activities, and so much more.
At the end of the program, each library branch will celebrate those who completed the program with their own party, which will be held in early August.
