The Sebring Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will bring together two community food resources on Thursday, Oct. 8, connecting residents with fresh produce and free meals through partnerships with the Mobile Market and Mount Olivet United Church of Christ.
Both events will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sebring Library.
The Mobile Market will offer freshly grown produce, while the Mount Olivet Food Distribution will provide free meals from the church’s Mission Trailer while supplies last. If weather conditions require it, the Mount Olivet distribution may move inside the Library.
The two programs reflect PLYMC’s broader role as a community partner by connecting residents with organizations and resources that address everyday needs. Partnerships such as these also allow community organizations to coordinate services and make effective use of existing spaces, relationships and resources.
“At Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ, we aim to meet our neighbors with warmth and joy. We do this by serving meals in partnership with the Sebring Library once each month. More than just providing food; it is an active extension of our faith and gratitude to God for the blessings we've received. We hope these tangible blessings are felt by all. We are very thankful to the Sebring Library for their help with these meals," said Tim Paroz, Pastor, Mt. Olivet United Church of Christ.
The Mount Olivet partnership is part of an ongoing effort at the Sebring Library, giving residents a consistent location where community organizations can connect directly with the people they serve.
“Sebring is strongest when local organizations work together to meet real community needs. By bringing the Library, Mount Olivet and the Mobile Market together in one accessible location, we are making existing community resources go further and putting fresh food and meals directly within reach of residents. The Sebring Library continues to demonstrate the important role it plays as a community resource and partner,” said Ed Dean, Sebring Village Manager.
The programs demonstrate how PLYMC branches can serve as more than places to borrow materials. By opening Library spaces to community partners and connecting residents with food, information and other resources, PLYMC helps strengthen communities throughout the Mahoning Valley.
