America 250-Ohio: Share YOUR Story!

On July 4, 2026, the United States will commemorate the Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The state of Ohio, including the Library, is taking part in this historic celebration!

As part of our continuing America 250-Ohio activities, The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) is initiating a countywide oral history project. We will be collecting brief recorded interviews with members of our community and preserving them on our Digital Archive – and we're inviting YOU to share your story!

Anyone aged 18 or older is welcome and encouraged to participate in the Share Your Story! Oral History Project. You can do so by completing a contact form online or at any PLYMC branch. A member of our project team will follow up to arrange an interview at a location of your choice.

This living memory project will run until the end of December 2026, giving plenty of time to tell your tale of living in Mahoning County. The story of our community is YOU, and we are honored to help preserve your Ohio story for today, tomorrow, and the future!

We hope that you will join us in this exciting project!
