July 2026 Resource Spotlight: Government Resources

Did you know that The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County (PLYMC) has been a proud participant in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), opens a new window for over 100 years? We officially celebrated our centennial milestone in 2023! 

While we’ve been at this for over a century, times have definitely changed. Today, PLYMC is a fully digital depository library. Upcoming July Programs: Our "21-Event Salute" 

In honor of the upcoming 250th celebration of America, PLYMC is hosting 21 special events this July, opens a new window —the library version of a 21-gun salute!  

Here are just a few highlight events you won't want to miss: 

Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence, opens a new window 

  • What: Local community leaders will read this foundational document aloud. 
  • When: Wednesday, July 8, 2026 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM 
  • Where: Main Library 

America 250-Ohio: Author John Scalzi!, opens a new window 

  • What: An exciting afternoon featuring author John Scalzi, a variety of activities, and the launch of our Picturing the Past photo collection for the PLYMC Digital Archive. 
  • When: Saturday, July 11, 2026 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
