PLYMC Digital Archive Now Live

After an extensive period of careful planning and hard work, we are excited to announce the launch of the PLYMC Digital Archive! The PLYMC Digital Archive is a new project featuring curated collections covering genealogy, local and state history and beyond. Stay tuned as we continue to add more items each week!

Here’s a description of what’s available right now;

Buckeye State History

From the earliest settlements to modern advancements, the materials in this collection offer insight into the unique individuals and characteristics of the State of Ohio.

Mahoning Valley Heritage

The unique history, culture, and communities of the Mahoning Valley are the focus of this collection. From notable citizens and historic architecture to the diverse communities and their contributions to the region, this collection strives to capture the Mahoning Valley of the past and the present.

Reuben’s Legacy – History of PLYMC

This collection is centered on the history of PLYMC, and is named after the Library’s founder, Reuben McMillan. Included are library publications such as annual reports and newsletters, as well as photographs that capture the history of the library throughout the years.

Henry Baldwin

In the early 20th century, Henry Baldwin traveled to some of the oldest cemeteries in the Mahoning and Shenango Valley regions and took extensive notes on the inscriptions found on the gravestones in these cemeteries. These notes have proved to be invaluable for genealogical researchers to this day.

Tales of the Mahoning & Shenango Valleys

Tales of the Mahoning & Shenango Valleys was a weekly radio program produced by the Industrial Information Institute throughout the 1950’s. Each week, a new program would spotlight a particular individual or event that was significant in the history of the Mahoning and Shenango Valley regions. This collection includes both the recordings of these programs and the scripts used in the making of each program.
