May 2026 Resource Spotlight: Health Resources

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to prioritize emotional well-being and connect with reliable information and support.

In fact, there are quite a few health-related observances for May, including Women’s Health, Arthritis Awareness, Physical Fitness and Sports, Better Sleep, Hepatitis Awareness, Lupus Awareness, Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness, Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention, and Stroke Awareness.

Consumer Health Complete

Provided by the state for all Ohio residents, Consumer Health Complete contains reliable information from books, magazines, journals and even videos. You can keyword search for a health topic or you can browse for information by the Explore categories, such as:

EBSCO Resources

The library provides access to several EBSCO databases for articles on health, including:

Universal Class

Free for all PLYMC library cardholders, Universal Class contains online educational courses on a variety of topics. Keyword search or click Browse Catalog to view on topics such as:

Digital Library Collections

Hoopla is the library’s streaming resource for eBooks, audiobooks, movies, TV and music for all ages. You can browse within each format for health topics. Hoopla also offers Get Healthy U TV BingePass that allows cardholders to stream workouts at home!

The Libby app by Overdrive provides access to eBooks and audiobooks with a variety of health titles for adults, kids and teens.
